About Capitol To Bay Relay

The Capitol to Bay Relay (previously the Olympia Traverse) is a fun relay race that celebrates the life of wild salmon and the natural and urban challenges of their journey. The five-leg relay starts at Capitol Forest with mountain biking, road biking, paddling, running and ends at Budd Inlet with the Team Trek leg. The race concludes at the Port Plaza in Olympia where vendors, racers, and fans join together with the Thurston County Chamber’s Brew Fest to celebrate and enjoy the local festivities. The purpose of this 37-mile race is to showcase the varied geography and recreational opportunities in Thurston County while at the same time encouraging health and fitness.

The Capitol to Bay Relay is put on by and for the benefit of the PARC Foundation of Thurston County, which is dedicated to preserving the vital green spaces of our natural surroundings, expanding and supporting works of art and artists in our community,  ensuring all citizens have access to recreational opportunities, and celebrating cultural activity in Thurston County.
